Compress image to any size in KB

Reduce a photo to exactly the file size you need — 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or any number you type. The best quality that fits is found for you, and your photo never leaves your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose a photo: JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC from an iPhone.
  2. Pick a size limit, or type your own. The image is compressed to that size or smaller.
  3. Compare with the original, then download. Use "Continue with" to resize or crop it next.

Hit the exact size a form asks for

Application forms, exam portals, job sites and government websites often reject photos above a size like 50 KB or 100 KB. Ordinary compressors make you guess a quality level and try again. This one searches for the highest quality that still fits your limit, so you get it right first time.

Only if quality alone cannot get the file small enough are the pixel dimensions reduced — and then just as much as needed, because a slightly smaller image at good quality looks far better than a full-size one full of blocky artefacts.

JPG or WebP?

Choose JPG for anything you are uploading to a form or sending to someone: every website and device accepts it. WebP makes smaller files at the same quality and is ideal for your own website, but some upload forms do not accept it.

Why it is private

Online compressors usually upload your photo to their server. Here the compression runs inside your browser, so ID photos, signatures and personal pictures are never sent anywhere — and large photos compress without any upload wait.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Compression happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server, which matters for ID photos, signatures and documents.

Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?

This tool uses 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, the way Windows and most upload forms measure file size, and always keeps the file at or below the limit — so it passes either way.

Will my photo lose quality?

Some quality is always traded for a smaller file, but the tool keeps the highest quality that fits your limit. Use the Original/Result switch to compare. For very small limits like 20 KB, a smaller image size is used so the picture stays clean.

Can I compress a PNG with a transparent background?

Yes. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white — which is what forms expect for signatures and photos.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone, including iPhone HEIC photos.
