Compress image to 100 KB
Bring any photo or scanned document under 100 KB while keeping it sharp and readable.
How to use it
- Choose your photo — JPG, PNG, WebP or an iPhone HEIC photo.
- It is compressed to 100 KB or less straight away, keeping as much quality as the limit allows.
- Check the result next to the original and download your JPG.
Where a 100 KB limit appears
100 KB is a common limit for supporting documents and ID uploads, and a comfortable size for sending photos by email or chat without losing detail.
- ID cards, certificates and mark sheets
- Photos for online applications
- Images for email and messaging
- Profile pictures for websites and portals
Documents stay readable
At 100 KB a document photo can usually keep its full width, so text stays legible. If a page is very detailed, try "Continue with → Resize" to set a width of about 1200 px first; that often gives sharper text than squeezing the full-size image.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Compression happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server, which matters for ID photos, signatures and documents.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
This tool uses 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, the way Windows and most upload forms measure file size, and always keeps the file at or below the limit — so it passes either way.
Can I compress a PDF to 100 KB here?
This tool works on images. If your document is a photo or scan (JPG, PNG, HEIC), compress it here; a PDF tool is coming to FreeToolsDesk soon.
Why is my result 98 KB, not exactly 100 KB?
Image files cannot be cut to an exact byte count; the tool finds the best quality that stays at or below your limit, so you always pass the check.
