Compress image to 50 KB
Reduce your photo to 50 KB or less for online applications. The best quality that fits is found automatically.
How to use it
- Choose your photo — JPG, PNG, WebP or an iPhone HEIC photo.
- It is compressed to 50 KB or less straight away, keeping as much quality as the limit allows.
- Check the result next to the original and download your JPG.
The most common upload limit
Many exam registrations, job applications and government portals ask for a photograph between 20 KB and 50 KB. Phone photos are usually 2–5 MB, so they need to shrink by around 99% — which this tool does while keeping the face clear.
If the form also specifies dimensions
Some forms give both a pixel size (for example 200 × 230 px) and a file size. Use the photo resizer in KB, which sets the exact dimensions and the file-size limit together, or crop your photo first and then compress it here.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Compression happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server, which matters for ID photos, signatures and documents.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
This tool uses 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, the way Windows and most upload forms measure file size, and always keeps the file at or below the limit — so it passes either way.
My form says "between 20 KB and 50 KB". Will this work?
Yes. The result is the highest quality that fits under 50 KB, which is almost always well above 20 KB.
Should I crop my photo first?
Usually yes — forms want a head-and-shoulders photo. Crop first, then use "Continue with → Compress image" to bring it under 50 KB.
