How to use it

  1. Choose an MP3 (or any other audio file).
  2. Drag the two handles on the waveform, or type exact start and end times. Choose whether to keep the selection or cut it out.
  3. Add a fade in or fade out if you like, preview it, and download as MP3 or WAV.

Two ways to cut

"Keep selection" saves only the part between the handles — use it to trim silence off the start and end, or to pull out one section of a long recording.

"Remove selection" deletes the part between the handles and joins the rest together — use it to cut a mistake, a cough or an advert out of the middle.

Precise down to a tenth of a second

Drag the handles for a quick cut, then fine-tune by typing times such as 1:23.4 into the Start and End boxes. Press play to hear exactly what you will get before you download.

Smooth fades

A cut in the middle of a sound can click. A short fade of half a second removes that click; a longer fade out of two to five seconds makes a song excerpt end gracefully instead of stopping abruptly.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I cut?

Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, and the audio from MP4, MOV and WebM videos. Save the result as MP3 or WAV.

Does cutting reduce the quality?

Saving as WAV keeps full quality. Saving as MP3 re-encodes the audio; at 192 or 320 kbps the difference is inaudible for almost everyone.

Can I remove a section from the middle?

Yes. Switch to "Remove selection", select the part you want gone, and the two remaining parts are joined together.

Is it really free and private?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no upload — the cutting happens in your browser on your own device.
