Compress PDF to any size in KB

Make a PDF small enough for any upload form. Pick a limit — 100 KB, 200 KB or your own number — and get the clearest PDF that fits.

How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Pick the maximum size, or type your own. Tick black and white for scanned documents to get the smallest file.
  3. Download the compressed PDF. The page tells you exactly what was changed.

How it fits your limit

First the PDF is optimised without changing anything visible — duplicate data is removed and the file structure is compressed. If that is enough, your text stays selectable and sharp.

If the PDF is still too big — usually because it contains scans or photos — each page is re-saved as an image at the highest resolution and quality that still fits your limit. You always see which method was used.

Tips for very small limits

A 100 KB limit is tight for a multi-page document. These help the most:

  • Tick "Black and white" for scanned forms and certificates — it often halves the size.
  • Remove pages the form doesn’t need with Split PDF first.
  • Scan or photograph documents in good light: clean pages compress far better.

Frequently asked questions

Are my documents uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device, so your documents are never sent to a server. That matters for ID cards, certificates, bank statements and contracts.

Will my PDF still look good?

At 200 KB and above most documents look the same. At very small limits, pages are saved as images at a lower resolution — still readable, but text is no longer selectable.

Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?

The tool uses 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, like Windows and most upload forms, and keeps the file at or below the limit, so it passes either way.

Can it compress password-protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then compress.
